St. Andrews opened its doors as a non-denominational residential care center after a complete renovation of the building in 1986. Today, St. Andrews offers a gracious alternative to a nursing home or foster care home for older adults with memory impairments. St. Andrews uses the Personal Touch philosophy, which includes moving away from task-oriented care and moving toward person-centered care. At St Andrews, we believe in getting to know each individual we serve and learning their life story. We use this knowledge of their life and who they are to individualize our care to fit the person. We provide this program of care through the support of our Administrator, our staff RN, and our House Medical Director, Dr. Harry Krulewitch. Dr. Krulewitch benefits the residents of St. Andrews in two valuable functions: as a physician and as Medical Director. As a physician, he is able to visit our residents right here in their home, where he can make informed treatment decisions working closely with the St. Andrews nursing staff. As a Medical Director, his direction and experience impacts policies and procedures and guides the nursing staff. Our nursing staff is available to the care staff at St. Andrews 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our nursing staff is committed to providing the best medical monitoring and care to each of our residents. We can also utilize outside resources, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and home health services so that your loved one may stay in here in their home and avoid lengthy nursing home stays.
